Cranbrook, in the heart of the Weald with its landmark Union Windmill, is a historic Wealden market town with individual shops, including antique shops, fine jewellers, and gift shops. There are several restaurants, pubs and tea-rooms where you may enjoy a light lunch or evening meal.

To the east, the village of Benenden is just a short drive away, where the local cricket team often play on the village green watched over by the 15th century church.

To the west, the village of Goudhurst sits high on one of the steepest hills in the Weald. Goudhurst is also the home of the Bedgebury National Pinetum, with its fine collection of specimen conifers.

Doves Farm Oast is ideally situated for those wishing to visit the gardens of Sissinghurst and Scotney Castles, and Pashley Manor. The National Trust properties of Great Dixter, Batemans and Bodiam Castle are approximately 20-25 minutes drive. Finchcocks House, Goudhurst, a fine Georgian manor, housing a magnificent collection of over 100 historical keyboard instruments, is just a short drive away.
